There was a rather good production of a Doyle story the other night. Masterpiece Theatre.

It finally, as so many films of the past haven't, presented Holmes as the complex fellow Doyle drew. We see him shooting morphine! We see him in unsatisfactory reparte with a pyschoanalyst. And, through all the detritis, we see him razoring in. To the anomalies, to the things most people pass by.

Worthy of a look. Rupert Everett did a fine job with the lead. My only complaint is the ease at the end with the shrink. smile.gif And I'm not at all sure it's faithful to Doyle.

Didn't see the one you mentioned.

I loved the bunch of Holmes shows from a few years back with Jeremy Brett as the lead. Brought just the right degree of maniacal energy, I thought.
