I took the long one.
I am libertarian left.
In fact I am close to Gandhi on the graph.
I also read Chomsky, that should make me a few enemies, but I think it already has.
For my results I think that the questionaire was an accurate assessment.
Go on publish your results, see if there are any surprises.

Well, I come out just to the left of Charles Kennedy and Simon Hughes, which is just where I thought I would be. Must be correct!

03-24-2003, 04:51 PM
Libertarian... uh, excuse me, I have a question mark burning on my lawn.

Dennis Marshall

Centrist -- almost dead center in the axis. I took both quizzes -- virtually same result. At least I'm consistent.

About 4 lines to the Southeast of center. Or Libertarian-Right. I knew that. ;)

Here I am with "Red Ken" & Gandhi and I bet also with WBFite Ian Wright... We'll see when he takes the test. smile.gif

Scott Rosen

Say hello to your newist "Left-Liberal."

Looking at the visual aid, I'm between 3rd base and home plate, a little closer to home.

I found I couldn't answer the questions in the short quiz because they were too vague. I'll try the long on. This probably says something about my profile. :D

Memphis Mike

Libertarian here.

03-24-2003, 05:44 PM
Libertarian, 90-70. Deep, very deep, shortstop.

Paul Denison
03-24-2003, 05:53 PM
The long test was more concise in its questioning.

Economic Left/Right: 1.12
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -1.79

03-24-2003, 06:11 PM
Ug!
Libertarian on the first.

Economic Left/Right -3.5
Authoritarian Libertarian -3.64

I think my answers on pot and abortion must have skewed it?

03-24-2003, 06:13 PM
Right on the line between Center and Left, which is just where I'd place myself

Greg H
03-24-2003, 06:14 PM
Libertarian left. Rounded third and a third of the way home.

Wayne Jeffers
03-24-2003, 06:50 PM
First one has me to the right of Scott Rosen!! Centrist, leaning toward authoritarian. Dead center, except it looks like I took a few steps toward home from the mound. (Scott will know what I mean. Non-Americans won't, for the most part. smile.gif )

On the long version, I'm Left-Libertarian.

I put me somewhere between the results of the two, closer to the latter. :D

03-24-2003, 07:13 PM
On the line between Libertarian and Left Liberal,
Personal 90%
Economic 50%

On the other one I got
Economic Left/Right: -3.88
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.67

No real surprises.

03-24-2003, 07:34 PM
Now I wanna know where Gerbil Boy tests out.

New revelations about Scott have forced me to rename the topic.

03-24-2003, 07:56 PM
Uh, Where did you land on the test Bruce?

03-24-2003, 08:00 PM
Strong Liberterian

Its how the question is asked, like polls taken during elections and opinions polls. The poll is written to slant towards the left.

03-24-2003, 08:02 PM
I couldn't answer half of them, even with an 'M' whatever that means. If one is devoted to situational ethics, where does that put him? Lost?

km gresham
03-24-2003, 08:05 PM
1.5 left/right economic
-.41 authoritarian/libertarian

I wanted a "maybe" or "possibly" choice for a bunch of those questions.

03-24-2003, 08:13 PM
lefty, liberal and proud

Bruce Taylor
03-24-2003, 08:19 PM
Uh, Where did you land on the test Bruce?Left-liberal / libertarian (about halfway between second and third base). That's right where I'd have put myself: a personal libertarian, and an economic pragmatist.

And on the long test, basically the same result:

Economic Left/Right: -4.38
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.64

Come on, Oyster. It's just for fun...where did you place?

The short quiz is from a Libertarian website, so I don't see why it would lean to the left...but take the longer quiz if you think the short one is slanted.

Jack, just answer the freakin' questions! smile.gif

"Find out how to get free information about libertarian ideas."

I did find this message, also, with no clicking.

I didn't answer, but clicked on it. I am a centrist. HEHE

Oyster thinks everything in the media slants to the left. ;)

Liberal/Centrist, didn’t need a quiz to tell me that.I’ve been called worse, like “tree hugging pinko”.

Authoritarian/libertarian -1.59

I've done the World's Smallest a bunch of times before and always come about the same spot: 80% on personal self government, and 80% on economic self government, dead square in libertarian territory.

I haven't seen the other one before. They way I read it, it puts me in much the same territory, maybe a little more to the libertarian right. Again, no surprises there.

Economic left/right: 5.50
Authoritarian/libertarian: -0.67

Rereading everyone's responses, that makes me the rightest winger of all who've posted their scores. Does that mean I'm due for some liberal piling on in the bilge? ;)

km gresham

Just took the first test - centrist 50% and 60% respectively.

Surprise anybody? ;)

03-25-2003, 08:54 AM
Thanks Bruce that was fun. However I think the long test shows me more centrist that I really am since no category for rabidly agree or disagree was available.

Also they forgot an important question that I strongly agree to. Do you think the ACLU is part of the vast right-wing conspiracy?

Economic Left/Right: -8.75
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -8.31

No wonder I always feel dizzy. I'm a communist and an anarchist.

And that is with medication.

80/40, and it says I'm a Liberal!!!!!!!

I demand a recount.
And on the other, it says I'm slightly to the right of Ghandi!

Since both the right and the left seem to agree that the ACLU is conspiring against them, then they must be doing something right!

Economic Left/Right: -8.75
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -8.31

No wonder I always feel dizzy. I'm a communist and an anarchist.
Nope, you are a utopian.

Aren't there any more right wing whackos on this thing? I can't be the only one, can I? :D

World's Smallest:

Personal: 90%
Economic: 80%

The other 'un:

Economic Left/Right: 3.25
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.05

(shortstop, infield in, looking for a play at the plate)

I'm about halfway to Milton Friedman, which sounds about right to me. smile.gif

I wonder about the framing of some of the questions in the longer quiz. There was something about the "Governments should penalise companies that mislead the public" (paraphrasing) that made me suspect it was an "Aha! You really support a government role in commerce, you pseudo-libertarian you!" kind of trap. And yes, it is the market that should really punish that kind of behavior. However, government's role in libertarian society as I understand it is to protect citizens against, and punish the perpetrators of, force and fraud. Misleading the public falls under the heading of fraud where I come from, and I would support making an example--even in a libertarian environment, perhaps especially in a libertarian environment--of folks like that...pour encourager les autres. ;)

Wayne Jeffers
03-26-2003, 02:13 PM

Individuals are subject to laws which limit behavior which society deems unacceptable, and we have police to catch the ones who break those laws.

Why should corporations be different?

Of course, the devil is in the details of where to set the limits.

Wayne, I think that's what I said, more or less. ;)
