Lofting and cutting out the bulheads for the floats today. Kinda cold out today. So I decided to take it inside and cut them out with the old handsaw.
Man how did I manage to do all that previous work w/o power tools!
BTW I setup two old fence posts and strung my new tarp between the two. So SWIFTWOOD has a tent over it. Good thing too, first seasons Nor'easter is tomorrow!

Nice and dry after the storm, both the weather and the boat. Looks like the new tarp and poles worked out!
I dry fitted the bulkheads today, it's amazing how much shape is out into the hulls with so just a little curvature turtured in.
FYI for those torturing plywood. I could not force the bigger bulkheads in from about. I had to undo the wires holding the hulls together. Spread the two halves apart. Hook the bulkheads und the shearclamps, clamp accross the shears. Then roll the hull over, and restitch.

Hand tools are good for the soul, as long as you're not in too much of a hurry.

What Scott said. A big chunk of wood and a big old plane and soon your world is right again. Keep plugging away, Brian.

A big chunk of foam and a nasty grinder is also fun.

Love the hand tools, especially on wood.
But when your facing incomming cold weather. burrr
Jim, did the foam thing on the solar car. 80 slices cut out and them blended together. Kinda like a big loaf of bread :D

I was told a long time ago that , "A man who cuts his own firewood warms himself twice" Ditto for working with hand tools, the original CORDLESS TOOLS.

Just curious
Is this thread highjacking?
I like working with hand tools.
But I also want to get the boat finished.
If I even did get around to building the "big version" it would be the only way to get it finished in my lifetime.
