Thanks for the memories!
Recieved the bills from the main carrier today $2300AUD for 3 months broadband... thats without the cost of cancelling out of the contract thats due next week
This new ISP is doing much the same thing and has already cost us over $300 and hell we only have dialup!! no broadband... oh its connected their end they reckon gotta be a problem your end... same bunch of flamin bull**** artists at Telstra and Eftel no flamin difference and Ive had a gut full.
so weve had a family talk this arvo and the end result is were pulling the plug for good... we would rather have that sort of money in the family than tossing it at the internet providers... its just not worth it anymore.
So without further adeui I say thanks and seeya later! Its 5.30pm and the bank accounts closed as is the ISP so we will be disconnected as of 9am tomorrow morning... never EVER again!
Love you people to bits youve been great but its time to move on... have an aweflaminsome life one and all.

Mate its gotta go... the bank accounts cant keep up with the cost of it anymore and theres no way we can afford to fight the bastards so the only thing we can do is pay out the contract and walk away.
Sad but true and hence no long winded essay on it all... its just over as of 9am tomorrow.

Man what a drag. Does the other forum members fro Aussieland pay this big amounts? Heck I can deal with dial up, and the iffy connections, for my little bitty $19 dollars. Take care, and will try to jingle in a week or so.

The greedy bastards will have their day but cheaper ISP's will be available in the future no doubt. You'll be missed until then Shane. :(

WD 50, I don't understand why the fees are that high. What is your telephone bill in OZ?
Hate to see ya go Shane, but I understand, you gotta do what you gotta do.

There's something not right here. $2300 should be more like 10 years of service, not 3 months.
Sorry to hear this, Shane. Sadly, I agree with your decision. All the best to the family.

Doug its like I said before Telstra is the main carrier of all things telecom here every other provider rents from them... they have the monopoly... We consider ourselves lucky compared to some we know and others weve heard about although at $2300+ I dont see much luck there other than being 3 and a half thousand shy of one couple we know who have also cut the internet out of their lives and yes it was Telstra again so we were "lucky" in the sence that it could have been worse... however to argue with the bastards would mean either litigation which is pointless as they firstly do not accept any liability or reponsibility for the modem they supplied or the service they provided... and they have the big bucks needed to wipe us out totally and without compunction and we have no way of proving we didnt actually use the massive quantities of Mb and Gb they say we did in that time frame... or we go to the media like others have before us and achieve absolutely nothing as they achieved and go through yet more aggravation... neither makes us happy which was why we cut out the contract before it cost us far more than it has.
On the other hand some people have and get good service from Telstra and are happy with it if I recall Bernadette was one who said she got good service for a good price from them... so some do and have no worries or problems and others dont and have nightmares.
so we cut our losses and decided to cut out the contract and wear the cost of doing so... thank gawd we did! I dont want to think how much it would be now if we didnt!... anyway we went back to our old ISP who had changed and become part of Eftel... and were initially told a price which we considered fair and were also told that there would be no charge till broadband was up and running other than the dial up for the intrim... well that wasnt so and the phone calls Ive recieved since we signed up with them have constantly stated that there would be no charge till we got the service... no service no charge right? so when we got the call from our insurance woman with conserns as to why the fee for the month was knocked back when the money was meant to be there we got onto the bank and got a copy of the statement which included the 300 to this Eftel mob!
So anyway end result is that we cant afford it any longer Jo wont allow that sort of money to disappear for non essentials... and to be honest Id rather give the money to the kids to buy a new bike or something... than toss it away to this mob for a service I still havent got!
So we have decided to cut out of the internet totally and for good... No going to internet cafes or the library as if I do within a short period of time I will want it back on again and that my friends will cause a major rift here something that has never happened in 20 years of marriage and something I have no intention of causing... so a total cut is being done.
I am not happy about it but there is nothing to be done... simply put we have both had a gut full of wasting so much money when the kids need things and there are other more important things in life the money could be spent on.
So as I said that is that and thank you all for the memories... its been truely great "knowing" you all! Inspirational mob... ah buggar it this wasnt going to be long winded by me! ****e! I sure stuffed that up eh? oh well nothing like being bloody consistant and going out as you knew me! :D

Thought I'd kick this up to the top of the heap in the hopes that it will help motivate us to get together and put some pressure on Shane's ISP to straighten out his mess.

How does Shane's troubles jibe with the experience of outer Internet users in Australia? Best I can judge only one we know from The Forum is wealthy enough to afford the costs Shane incured.
