I was going to submit rodcross and his brussels sprouts from the "Best (worst) gift" thread but ...

The best present? Oh man! I'm not sure I can post this. I love Brussel Sprouts and I had no idea what they looked like on the vine, or tree, or bush, or even if they grew like little cabbages, one at a time. One Christmas, one of my kids gave me a stalk of Brussel Sprouts.
There have been other great Christmas presents over the years. The great ones have been when the giver has put a piece of themself into the gift. Anyone can give me a flashlight or a padlock. Going to the local vegatable stand and asking for Brussel Sprouts 'in the raw' mean't the child knew something about me.

I would like to enter the Worst Christmas present contest, but I'm happy to run third at this stage, with this excellent entry.
A joint entry from the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra and Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford Connecticut.
New Worlds from Old. 19th Century Australian and American Landscapes. A gift from my son for Christmas. A beautiful book for a school library. I didn't say I was going to put in a bad entry, I just wanted to enter the contest, smile.gif .
Warren.
ps, I now see that I've moved into fourth.

A new worst!
In my stocking, this Christmas, was a bottle of industrial strength mouthwash!
Gimme Brussel Sprouts, anytime.

Someone near and dear to me sent a set of bathtub stickers--little blue feet and stars. They're supposed to keep you from slipping in the tub. But they don't work on tubs like mine that have non-slip surfaces. I don't want to throw them away. Any suggestions as to what to do with the stickers?

Bayboat; make a border/pattern with them on the tile surrounding the tub - or on the ceiling. Of course, you'll then be stuck with explaining why you have non-stickers on the walls or ceiling, but your near and dear friend will appreciate your appreciation of their gift smile.gif
Hmm... or how about on the cockpit sole of your boat? smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestions, Meerkat. It would be intriguing to stick them on the ceiling but not on the walls, which would raise the question of how did they get to the ceiling without trodding on the walls?
I was really hoping for a professional suggestion from Martha, but I guess she's mighty busy these days.

Not sure who the gift giver was, but this Christmas was a nice case of 72 hour upper/lower intestinal virus for myself, SWMBO and swmbo, all at the same time.

I'm not sure about "worst" gift, but given as I opened it in front of SWMBO and parents, possibly the most embarressing...
Said dear wife bought me clamps for the twelve days of Christmas. Clamps every day for almost two weeks! (Still need more, though. :^)
My baby brother decided to be a smart-a** and join in the giving of clamps by sending me a Sears box containing...
Nipple Clamps...
(He did include a gift card from Craftsman, though, so he gets to live...)
Just wait 'til his 30th birthday in February...
Happy New Year!

Bagpiper got Clover Clamps for Christmas!?!???
That's really cool.
Edited part:
Ah, Bagpiper, I have this problem...Ya see, ah, I bought these things...I thought they were for fastening the frames for a boat cover ...well...um...they don't come with instructions...well, ya know, they're sorta like a chinese finger puzzle. I need your help, man.

Let's see..... For Christmas this year .... My wife's pet chicken died. My wifes stepfather died. My wifes favorite aunt had a stroke, and while in the hospital they found a seriously cancerous pancreas, kidney, and lung. My mother got knocked over by a german sheperd and broke her hip,and had to have hip replacement.... OH! and I got "How to build a catspaw dinghy"!

It's just another bathtub (not the boat, the cockpit), only the water's free.
Sometimes works in the galley, too... :D
