Nothing earth shattering going on here. Just slow progress on a kayak of my own imagination that I am making up as I go along. It started several months ago something like this

More recently the hull went together

And the the deck panels shaped

Way back in April or so I said it would be in the water by June  :D . But there's still a chance it'll float before freeze up. Great paddling up here in the fall.

Nice looking boat, Jim. How long? Beam? Ply thickness, etc.

About 15' 2" long and a beamy 27" across. Sides and deck made from cheapo 1/8" door skin, 1/4" on the bottom. I'll paddle it for a while, think about some refinements, and build another out of good wood if it seems worth it. Even thinking about rounding off the chines a bit and cedar stripping. The bulkheads will define large water tight compartments and it will be a daytripper, no hatches so it will be unsinkable unless holed, hopefully even half ways managable with the cockpit flooded. There will be about a foot of space behind the seat to store a lunch and extra clothes but thats about it. Anything else will go on the decks.

Ain't is satisfying reaching structural milestones during the construction of a vessel? Nice looking design

And today is a perfect sunny summer day for getting those deck panels glued on - but I have to go renovate somebody's bathroom! :D Oh well, gotta pay for the epoxy somehow.

The bulkheads are being fitted with drain plugs for ventilation and to accomodate air pressure changes which I'ved heard can be a problem with large completely sealed compartments in thin skinned boats.
