My favourite niece had Santa send me a bottle each of Jack Daniels, Early Times, Makers Mark and (dear me!) Southern Comfort. Should I cut her off with a shilling or leave her my boat?
I'm prepared to forgive her the Southern Comfort, she's probably seen people drinking it with Coke,,,,,, but what about the other three? Will I ruin my taste buds? Best to mix it with,,,, what?
Advice please.

DON'T! :D
Actually, Southern Comfort is a nice kicker for coffee. The rest...

give the southern comfort to the local teenagers, Jack Daniels is perfect for camping, cooking, straight or on the rocks. I gave up a marriage for Jack,,and in retrospect it was a good thing. Early Times for manhattans? I don't know about Makers Mark,,isn't that the one on billboards?

I like Maker's Mark alot, but I'm not much of a booze drinker. And I often mix it with ginger ale. In fact I might go fix myself one right now.

Mix equal parts above ingrediants with: Old varnish, black paint, linseed oil, Japan drier, and McClelland's single malt, and apply to the weather surfaces of your dingy.
Or drink, adding 20% room temperature spring water

The Jack Daniels straight at room temp. Throw the others in the bin.
I think I met a virgin Bourbon drinker a long time ago. I think now she's just a Bourbon drinker.

One evening in October, when I was one-third sober,
An' taking home a ‘load' with manly pride;
My poor feet began to stutter, so I lay down in the gutter,
And a pig came up an' lay down by my side;
Then we sang ‘It's all fair weather when good fellows get together,'
Till a lady passing by was heard to say:
‘You can tell a man who "boozes" by the company he chooses'
And the pig got up and slowly walked away.

It doesn't make any difference what brand it is. It's all poison.
The Jack Daniels and Makers Mark are work keeping, for drinking or cooking. Throw the Early Times away, and send the Southern Comfort to Janis Joplin.

Now that I've had a couple, I'm prepared to say that Maker's Mark is the finest bourbon ever to grace God's green Earth.
Anybody got a problem with that? ;)

I know people who think Old Grandad and Jim Beam are primo bourbons.
Try Knob Creek, Elijah Craig, Blanton's Single Barrel, Hirsch Reserve (the 20 yo if you can find it, 16 yo if not) and Booker's.

Drink the Maker's straight, 2 fingers, over a few cubes of ice. Swirl it around & sip it.
Drink the Jack with Coke.
Drink the Early Times with ginger ale.
Save the Southern Comfort for this summer and make Hurricanes for your next pool party.

I'm the official Bourbon drinker here :D Basil Haydens is the finest everyday sipping bourbon I know of a gentle 90 proof. I add a splash of my own branch water (yea I bottle my own water from my stream)

But if you really want to experience nectar of the god's here you go for $228.00 Jim Beam Distiller's Masterpiece better than any fine cognac.

I drink Makers Mark for Manhattans, Old Fashions and Mint Juleps a fine bar bourbon
For the record Jack Daniel's is NOT bourbon its Tennessee sour mash

Boy, I was drinking un-named 20yo Bourbon, that my grandad used to trade prime bird dogs for, when you were drinking Tang and Kool-aid. tongue.gif

Donn, you do know that bourbon like all sprits stops aging once its in the bottle. So if ya want to get rid of that old dusty stuff ya dad left ya I guess I could take it off your hands - I mean what are friends for ;)

My parents used to drink something called "Ancient Age". I doubt it was 20 yo, but one could pretend ;)

Southern Comfort is quite popular in large southern universities because a) girls would drink it, and b) it was a good panty remover. Keep it away from your daughter!
:D
Makers on the rocks, that's good stuff. And this is coming from someone who prefers scotch...
