Bedding Compound

I have a really "stupid" question. Well here goes.
Should I use bedding compound between the bottom of the ribs I' ve replaced, and the new garboards, or should there be a wood to wood joint here? I'm working on a Thompson, lots "o" ribs here, 30 per side, on a 16' er. :rolleyes: Thanks Drew.

My guess is that it would not hurt. But I would like to hear from the experts.

It would serve no purpose, leave it out.

It would serve a negative purpose. That interface between the frame and the plank needs to be firm, not cushioned.
