G&L is the third guitar and final manufacturing business started by Leo Fender and still producing high quality instruments with manual wood working technology similar to those he developed for Fender instruments in the 1950's - there is a very nice factory tour on the website showing the nuts and bolts of the process. It is worth a look for any woodbutcher types. Watch out though - the techniques look low tech enough that you might head out to the workshop to try your hand at it!
At the moment I am lusting after an L-2000 bass, I like the guitars too but since I already have a nice old stratocaster it is difficult to justify the cost.
