My first name is Jim. Last name starts with a D. There are photos of two of my boats along with my full name on another website that is strictly for boating. I will discuss almost anything except God vs Darwin which is too absurd to waste my breath on.

I realize this has been posted before..Checked the site.Even you indicate yours should be updated... :D
As with a few other threads I have posted...I ONLY get those who have boats, want boats, or have an interest in boats responding. There are a lot of individuals who get on this thread to do whatever and then disappear. A lot have no real addresses...Mid West USA,,,somewhere etc.. There are an awful lot out there that do not seem to think of these threads as anything more than an avenue to spout idealogy etc.
I'm trying to weed them out..If for no other reason so that when I see their posts, I will disregard out of hand.
It seems you have a question about TGP and John Bell has questions as well.
It amazes me how many don't respond...
If it is a repetative message so be it...
If I am wrong so be it.

I would like to tell you who I am, however since I was stolen from the cradle by the gypsies it has been difficult to establish my identity. According to a faded tattoo on my...on me, I seem to be Thomas Garrison Peters, a plumber in Peoria Illinois...

Revising and extending my remarks.
The name you see posted to the left is not an alias. The latitude and longitude posted below are real. I'm being a little dishonest with those coordinates, but not too much. Plot them out on a map and you might be able to figure out what might be there. (WGS84 Datum)
I've built three plywood boats of my own: a Phil Bolger Windspring and two boats by Jim Michalak, a dory and power sharpie. I'm a certified boat nut. There isn't a boat I don't like for at least some part of it. I like powerboats, sail boats, row boats, fast boats, slow boats, old boats, and new boats, made out of any material, from any era. My current boat is an abomination in the eyes of the typical participant here, a 27' pontoon. We like the boat however, and it more than meets the needs of my family. I currently don't have any wooden boats in my fleet, but that's going to change before too much longer.
I enjoy boat design and have been drawing little plywood boats for a couple of years now. A few of my designs have even been built. The next boat I build will be to my own design, an 11' sailboat. I don't sell my designs, I've been giving them away to people equally as boat-obsessed as me.
I'm fairly conservative by many of your standards. I'm active in my church, and try to live up to the Christian ideal. I don't succeed at that as much as I could should, which makes me all the more glad for grace! I can't accept grace without giving it, and that I try to do also.
I try to have a good sense of humor, my favorite jokes are of the self deprecating variety.
I used to be a chemist (but not THE Chemist), and nowadays I sell chemicals to industry all over North America.
I've got a wonderful wife and two unbelievably bright and beautiful children. They are being raised as boat nuts also.
I'm 40 years old. Some days I feel younger, some older. I'm not addicited to coffee. I've been drinking 5 cups a day for twenty years and I can quit any time I want...
There, now you know all. smile.gif

TGP...if he wants to be dishonest so be it...It doesn't bother me but it should bother the heck out of him..In reverse...it would bother the heck out of me...Couldn't do it no more than I can steal a candy bar...
I was getting provisions in Maine one time for my father's boat...Went to a Mom and Pop store with $200.00 Bought about $150.00 in groceries...The owner was on the phone...I gave him $200.00 and he prcoded to give me approx $800.00 back in change..Every $1.00 was a five and every $5.00 was a twenty.
Got half way down the street before I realized this...Went back... The guy was going bald with all the hair pulling...Returned the money.
So, some people are honest...some people are not...some would have continued down the street going..."What a sucker!"

Married, dad to 3. I've have worked in a number of public and private sector social services and social policy fields for about 20 years. Degrees from 2 universities, but dropped out of a third. Trained and worked some as a cellist and a classical singer, but now mostly play blues piano and Irish traditional music on tinwhistle and flute.
Built a 21 foot sloop with my Dad and brother in high school ... and after sailing it for a while, moved to the Canadian prairies ... now that I'm back near salt water, I'm hoping to build again soon, if ongoing house renovations ever permit. While I'll probably build a 17 foot daysailer, I lust after 40 foot schooners. Sailed and canoed since I was a kid.
BTW Uncas, a number of regular Bilge posters likely won't play this game - judging by past attempts. Some people here aren't apparently bananas about wooden boats ... preferring to show up for the political cut-and-thrust. Still seems odd to me that the WBF is the political forum they choose ... but it takes all kinds, I guess.

My info is in my profile. I'm 56 now and got a bunch of grand kids. 16 yo Brittaney is in the throws of being 16 and is therefore really just a grand alien. 11 yo Alex can put fifty out of fifty shots in the 8" black at fifty yards with the .22 rifle (with a rest). Megan is an artist and dancer at five. I don't see the grand sons much...
I'm trying to get started building a small plywood sailor this winter, wish me luck!

Born Dec '67. Happily married for 6 years. 2 kids, Anna (3.5) and Cooper (1.5), 2 cats, Bailey (I call him "Pimple" because he's so cantankerous) and Madison (I call her "Fatty Lumpkin" because...well, because). Started a Shellback Dinghy, had to stop for space reasons. Now building a Guillemot Little Auk Kayak. Drive a Wrangler or a Minivan, depending. Work down the street Tues-Fri. Drink some LaPhroaig occasionally. Listen to either Blues, Jazz, or Classical, with the occasional hard rock thrown in. Current favorite plane: EC Emmerich Block plane. Dream tool: Harris tools wooden spokeshave (the Kunz is ok, but I'm looking for something different), OR a Yates-American 20" Y-20 Snowflake Bandsaw. Dream boat: the Schooner When and If .

Phillip- Your description of your granddaughter Brittaney reminds me of our kids when they were that age. To keep our sense of humor about them, my wife and I would quote the qualities Bear Bryant wanted in his Alabama football players: "Agile, Mobile and Hostile!".
