Eagle America, www.Eagle-America.com (http://www.Eagle-America.com), has a new line of router bits that will make bird's mouth spars with 6, 8,12, and16 sides.

George , just what I'm looking for , only small problem is the max dia of cut is listed at 7/8" and my masts need to be 1" wide staves for the 12 stave method birds mouth. Lee Valley is closer and I found they carry the same size and also max width of wood is listed as 7/8",larger wood can be used but requires more sanding after glue up (they say) .Guess that means I can experiment with 1" stave test piece first .Thanks for that, I was thinking of cutting them with the dado /tablesaw technique. This router bit is much more accurate.

Not having a table saw, I built an 8-stave birdsmouth mast using a normal 45-degree grooving bit (like a 90-degree countersink - not sure about router bit terminology). With a simple jig attached to the router base to center the stave, no problem. The bit was from Home Despot, no less, and cost about $10.
Sure would be good if there was an easy way to post a sketch.
