I've been asked this morning to write down
the things I think are fun. {I stand accused of
spending too much time in the house}

My list:
Boats
Fishing
Camping
Travel
Cooking
Gardening
Reading
Movies {at home}

I'm still thinking....

What does everyone else consider fun?

Yeah, I s'pose that dumping on Stan is a cheap shot here, but it has been amusing to watch the ebb & flow of the vitriol on the threads he's posted.

What's fun? Sailing (of course), hiking on the headlands by the ocean; creating the GA & profile for a new design; driving illegally fast on deserted back roads on my motorcycle; playing a tightly contested game of pool with a good opponent; hearing a gifted musician playing at the peak of their ability; working with a good, egoless, team of designers, technicians, and boatbuilders to bring a client's dream boat into reality; having my daughter wordlessly crawl into my arms for a few minutes and have her thank me for it when she moves on to her next activity. That's fun.

What does "pissed" mean in American? Drunk ? angry? Both?
( means drunk here)

John B. - it depends on the context; either drunk or angry. I believe it's use in the reply above was the second sort. God forbid we make an English word have only one meaning - particularly the slang useage of it - it would be way too easy to learn as a second language that way!! This way it allows us to say such nonsensical statements as "Last night I went out with the boys and got pissed, but when I came home my wife was pissed at me being pissed and I thought that unfair, so now I'm pissed at her for being pissed at me for being pissed!". What a grand language, eh?

There was this bumper sticker..."jesus is coming, and boy is he pissed".

Thing is, no one here could figure out why he'd be in that kind of state. In other words, we just plain didn't get it.

I just thought I'd confirm.

Sailing on a nice warm day in a steady two-reef breeze.

Sailing very quietly to get as close as possible to a loon.

Working in the shop and talking about history (simultaneously, almost always) with my 14-year-old son.

Sitting in front of the fire reading Borges or Ursula K. LeGuin and watching snow fall.

Going out to dinner with my wife at a Mexican restaurant where we're the only ones speaking English.

Building a boat (except for the sanding).
