Gounod: Ave Maria

Ave Maria,
gratia plena,
Dominus tecum,
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus
fructus ventris tui, Jesu.

Sancta Maria,
Sancta Maria,
Maria!
Ora pro nobis nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora
in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.
Amen.

Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

Silent Night (Reba McEntire does a good version)

There is an un-released song that Alabama does I think the name is My First Christmas in Heaven. We played it at Mom's funeral and I've got a copy on cassette, but it is not that good of a copy.

Of course for me, it's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" with the Vince Guaraldi Trio.

i am on a divine mission, to place asunder, every single copy of a Boney M recording ever produced and carelessy left out, where the unholy and tasteless might gain a foothold

I'm old-fashioned. I'll play Nutcracker a few dozen times, interspersed with a few Christmas songs by The Velvet Fog.

I've got to agree with Garrett. I was just telling my wife last night that "O Tannenbaum" on that Gauraldi album is the best Christmas song ever.

Each year one song seems to stand out for me This year I really like "Baby It's Cold Outside". There are several versions. Heard one with Leon Redbone and Zooey Deschanel the other night...that was good.

My all time favorite duet. Little Drummer boy as sung by the thin white duke ( Bowie ) and B-B-B-Bing Crosby  If that is not an odd couple I don't know what is. I remember seeing happen on some Christmas special. Its such an utterly odd duet but Bowie's high matches beautifully with Bings low in the end its kinda like when the Christmas spirit grabs you the duet just comes together and works.

I also cry almost every time Sinatras Christmas Waltz comes on. Because when I was a kid up until I was a young man My mother and I would stop whatever we were doing if that song came on and just waltz. I hear it now and my first instinct is to get up and look for my mom :(

Pretty much any of the vocal Bach Christmas music - the Christmas Oratorio, various cantatas etc. But Benjamin Britten's "St. Nicholas" runs a close second.
