Getting ready to start restoring a 15 wagemaker has cedar planking on sides and bottom but plywood on deck. Have obtained some beautifal African mahogany but was wondering on the plank thickness as to being 1\2 or 1 inch Thanks for the help Dean

I'd go 1/2", it was probably 3/8" or 7/16" originally but if you can afford a little extra weight the 1/2" is the way to go.

Hi,
If it is a sprung deck that you are laying in place to the ply, then make sure to make the planks nearly square in cross section as edge setting a thin retangular section is less than fun. The material should be quarter sawn to that the slash grain is on the caulk seam. This makes for easier bending.
If you are replacing the ply wood deck with African plywood, then use what ever is close to the thickness of the origional ply.
Cheers,
