Great thanks to forum members Mike and MikeP, and many others, for leading/helping/hauling Janetess upright for the first time. Great thanks to Janet for the support to build the project.

The work itself is impressive! But, the dedication and time involved merits Kudos also!

The whole environment, boat and shop is almost beyond words.

Now...tell me/us about that magnificient shop building.

PS: you will *PLEASE* keep updating your Imagestation album?

Amazing! Obviously you've decided to turn her first and paint second. Got some colors in mind?

Love the boat project - thanks for the documentation on your site.

But as to the shop - I second the motion!
Can we have a shop tour too? please please please!

Thanks,
Bob

ps. I admittedly have a nice shop, no complaints (well all shops could be bigger I suppose..)
- but man I want yours!

What a terrific project. She'll be bulletproof as a hull.
I don't know if you've posted much on her before ( have I forgotten/ not recognised it?) but I'd love to hear more about her.
She looks English?. Giles sort of heritage?...Irens? Burnett? Reminds me of Ed's 'Nomad'.( PaulGartside?mmmm n.n.no?)

Thanks for your kind replies.
The shop is truly amazing. It was designed by my neighbor, Zig Mickalish, who went to boat shops in Morehead City, NC to get ideas. It was designed to build a 40' sailboat, and measures 48'x32'. It is passive solar heat with supplemental wood stove burning scraps. He is willing to design other boatshops using the experience from my shop (I can supply his email address).
The boat was designed by Mark Smaalders, "Kahuna". I like designs by Burnett, Irens, Gartside, Giles, as well. I chose the design based on the lines and building technique (strip-plank/cold molded). I wanted a boat similar to the Bristol Channel cutter by Lyle Hess, but a little bigger.
I probably should have done more painting and priming before turning, though I had some good reasons for waiting, mostly based on access to the hull and scaffolding.
I am learning that there are only a few "absolutes" in boat building, but the turnover seems like one of them.

Good job! Is that Finbar? Why, with such supervision, no wonder your project is so fine.

Wow! I just had a look at your album; As we say here in San Clemente; Dude, that is Bitchen! Your shop appears to be the size of my lot. I'd like a tour also. Nice working conditions. Keep up the good work.

Dingo: thanks for your kind words, man. She is 32 ft on deck, and 10'8" beam, designed to displace 16,000 lbs. Blue water capable. Designed by Mark Smaalders (Kahuna, link above).
The shop is wonderful, no doubt about it. The space makes the project possible. I use air tools and dust collection whenever I can. The overhead I-beams are just now coming into use. I have spent the last several working days making scaffolding and balcony, hoping to rig a traveling beam to help lift some of the heavier items into the hull, and out of storage.
