Cats is just hats waitin' to be hollowed out!

I popped a feral dove on the back verandah with the air rifle today - two minutes after posting my comment above - and a tortoise-shell cat came running out from underneath to see what made the noise. Tempting, very tempting - the damned things kill native fauna in my yard all the time - but I let it live. I don't have a problem with cats per se - just their owners that don't control them.

Yair Doorstop, I remember "Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild fronteeer!" Blimey, I was only about 12 or so!

We have one that looks just like that.. She is 11 years old and spends most of her time working on her meatloaf impersonation.

Got a cat. Catches all the mice before they get in the house. Also gets some of the birds that s*"t on the cars. Should take her down to the boat. The neighbors seem to like her also cause she waits for the bus with the kids in the morning.

Well I've been trying for 10 minutes now. Danged if I can get my cat to sing. Nearest I got was a bit of Janis Joplin for a second there but there definitely wasn't any lyrics involved.

Now say after me " lovemetilltheend of time......willyalovemeforever... lov..."

At least one and most times both of my cats greet me at the door when I come home at night. Neither my late wife, or my ex-fiancee, or my kids have ever done that.

Mike, I Inherited 2 cats with my falling for SWMBO 8 years ago, The girl cat Blanche will hiss at me any time I walk near her. The guy cat, Wally is just about the best cat a cat can be which means he closest to a dog a cat can get. The problem is I found out Im category 5 allergic to cats. When I asked my doctor what cat 5 was - I thought it was you know 1 to 10 no no he said its 1 to 5 so Im most allergic to cats. Which helped explain the wheezing coughing and near death experience I get around cats not to mention my eyes swelling up like Rocky - cut me cut me. The added problem is Wally is about 16 years old and even though he can jump like Barishnikof ( sp ) he cant get his butt over a litter box, what's up with that ????? I thought cats are supposed to be the cleanest animals. So now the 2 cats live in the Mud room which is hermetically sealed from the main house. The cats have it good they have access to the outside a couch they wreck wrap around windows skylights and heat in the winter and a fan in the summer, food and water. I want my mud room back, its the perfect place to smoke a cigar. So how long do cats live anyway ??? At least they don't live like my boy my doggggg he rides in the car with me sleeps by my feet and looks into the mud room and laughs big yellow lab dog laughs.

A bad hair day! :D

I reserve seniority on cat owning. Had one for twenty-one years. And the snow was two feet thick sometimes but there were plenty of socks.

I personally detest cats... no rhyme or reason to it... just detest the creatures... dont go out of my way to be friendly nor to be nasty just dont like them...My one long term lifetime motto with cats has been... keep them flamin well away from me!!

Take it easy

Regarding allergies to cats: I read someplace that the problem is that cats wash themselves all of the time. Their siliva dries on their fur, and then flys around as dust. It contains an enzyme with causes the allergy reaction when one breaths it.

The solution, I am told, is to wash the cat frequently, perhaps twice per week for two or three months. Then the problem goes away, or maybe the cat goes away. I can't remember which.

I believe the procedure for washing cats is to tie a brick to their collar and find a 30'deep water hole. Throw them in until they surface. If they don't come up within five minutes, keep washing.

The difference between a dead lawyer and a dead cat? Skid marks in front of the cat.

06-27-2002, 06:56 PM
We have a guy in town who lost his entire house and nearly everything in it to a chimney fire. Luckily for him, the cat was alert and woke him up and dragged him out of the flaming building. The cat got the entirely useless dog out too.

At least cats don't require a baby sitter, like dogs do! Dogs crap where ever they want, bark, bite (more times than I'll mention).
Cats can at least fend for themselves when left for a while! Had to babysit the grandkids the other day (2 muts). What a pain I the a..! You cant let 'em loose, what to do with them pesky dogs? :D
Frankly, when these two cats die, no more animals!! No more fish, cats, dogs........ :D

AWWWW! C'Mon youse guys.........Just think...when you're half way to the Azores, tired of cooking and eating alone...what's nicer than having the pup for companionship. The critter will sit in the cockpit and keep you company...if you doze off and something appears on the horizon the wake you up...when you're so tired you ache the critter will look atcha with those big brown eyes and never complain......he won't bitch when you take a leak over the side......or complain that there's no tv or their tired of the same music over and over, and when in port won't go off and spend the entire cruising kitty (no pun intended) on junk souvinirs............ :D :D

He has been keeping me company, traveling on day trips to the northeast and boat riding in the feshwater lakes of Elvisland and to the Outer Banks on a washout two weeks here. This rain is suppose to last till sat or sun. morning and then get better for the holiday week. Maybe he can get a chance to meet some other not so distant Aussies tommorrow. I never know where he has bought his ticket for tommorrows journey. :D

Boy! That photog. Greg is really disturbing. It dredges up memory of 'The Outer Limits', back in 1967.

But anyway, cats. I like them a lot. They are such individuals. I've known cozy cats, and independent cats. I think I like the idependent ones the better, but they're all interesting.

The neighbor's cat comes and watches. He/she won't come close. I see the eyes shining in the dark, just beyond the reach of lights at night.

I doubt I will have another. They play hell with the local birds, unless they become fat and lazy like MKIA's Bob.

Cat woman Mary, a lesbian in central MA, made her life around cats. She had dozens at any one time, and spent much of her days catching and spaying ferals. I never met her face to face, but we spent many an hour on the phone, jawing about cats. I had a little feral at the time. Cats.

I hear puma are headed East. Confirmed sightings in Illinois. THERE'S a cat! The size of a jaguar! Interesting to imagine. I read a story about puma being in Boulder, CO recently. The thing I remember is a mother and daughter sitting down to tea one afternoon. Mother to daughter, "Oh, dear, there is a lion on your porch." smile.gif

P.S. The blurb I read.
