Crowd goes wild as batter plays with pitcher's balls.

    On national TV no less!

I'm surprised that none of you baseball nuts commented on this. 14 foul balls before hitting a home run has to be some kind of record?!?

Ah well, Chad would probably have found it funny. I hope he's doing ok!

Big enough news that even Brokaw mentioned it last night. Last sporting event he mentioned was probably the Janet Jackson incident at the Superbowl.

That's where I heard about it.

I wonder if there will be any repercussions for the pitcher?

The Mariners are probably talking about signing him as we sleep.

The record is actually 23 or 25 foul balls by a single batter at one at-bat.

I know this because during Alex Cora's 15 foul-ball at-bat, the Cubs broadcast team, Pat Hughes and former Cub Ron Santo, went into what sounded like rain delay banter, as if they were settling into some serious time killing.

At one point, at about foul ball #11, Pat started to read from Cora's bio, giving the names and ages of his children, etc. The real humor came when he dryly injected the comment - "I understand the she (the youngest child) learned to ride a two-wheeled bicycle during this at bat".

No repercussions for the pitcher. He was at a pitch count in the 90's, and probably should have been pulled, but that would have looked like surrender.

If I had been pitching, after along about foul ball eight, my next pitch would have been awefully high and inside.

I see that baseball and cricket are indeed related.

Fact- or folklore?!? Remember the story where Johnny Carson had Arnold Palmer's wife on his show, and asked her if she did anything special to help her husband win his golf games?

                  She- "I kiss his balls"

Johnny- "I'll bet that makes his putter stand up!"
