I recently purchased a 37' wooden tug built in 1936. It's in great shape for the age of the boat and most of the rot is the result of rain water leaking in the bow area. The hull has 1 1/4" cypress planking with 2"x2" oak frames 9" on center. I have several planks that I plan on replacing but have not yet decided the best way to remove them. The planks are fastened with iron nails that have the inside ends bent over. I am new to this forum and would appreciate any advice that you may have.
Thanks,
Darren

1. Visit this link (and bump it if useful): WB FAQ Building and Repair, ver. 2.0 (http://media5.hypernet.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008298)

2. Make yourself friendly with the search feature link at top; focus on Building and Repair.

Best wishes,
Ross

And for goodness sake post a picture if you can. I've got a 37' tug from 1925 and would love to see it.

Ok, I think the picture is now posted in the "My Wooden Boat" section. The boat's name is Buddy L. Be sure to check out the notes, I posted some of the boat's history. I would also love to see your 1925 tug, where is it posted?

Hi Darren,
Got your e-mail. Thanks. I'll try to post some pictures soon and send you a few. A picture of my boat is also in "My Wooden Boat". If you search for "ANT" it should come up.
