Watched a lot of the Canadian live 8 concert yesterday including the “best of” after. (I crashed on my bike earlier in the day and I’m kind of layed up). The Canadian coverage included segments from around the world.

Some observations: man it is easy to see how the British managed the “English Invasion” in the 60's, their “geezer” (I think it's OK for to say that as I am a geezer) bands are still very talented. The reunion of Pink Floyd was amazing they have not played together for over 25 years and they sounded great. I think the neatest thing about them was that none of them looked like aging rock stars, (you know that long hair, skinny, Keith Richards look, which is really kind of sad). They looked for all the world like they were working in the garden with their grand kids, when they got the call, and came to the show, and blew everyone away.

Of the new acts I really didn’t see anything which
stood out, too bad for the kids.
On the Canadian concert Neil Young looked frail and was O.K.The Barenaked Ladies showed just how much talent and class they truly have. If any of you south of the border have not heard them check them out they appeal to all age groups.

A long post (I don’t have much else I can do, until I heal up), Cheers.

Hoss, sorry to hear that you're hurtin'. Mend quickly - it's the wrong time of year to be laid up!

Neil Young may have looked haggard because his father died a couple of days ago.

Thanks MMD it's mostly “road rash” nothing seems broken. I've got to careful with it though. A few years ago I scraped the same spot and developed Phlebitis, I don’t want that every again.

I'm practicing safe motorcycling - the bike's in pieces out in the yard! Actually, we found the problem - the actuator rod for the clutch had a little patina of rust on it that was enough to make it jam. The kind of thing that costs a fortune if you're paying someone $75 an hour to figure it out.

hoss: someone pulled the wool over your eyes, buddy. I saw Pink Floyd at the Silverdome in 1993. A year later they put out the Division Bell album. Now I didn't see the coverage yesterday, but the only person I could imagine "reuniting" with them might be Roger Waters, who was their lead singer for a couple of albums in the 70's and early 80's. Other than that, the band has stayed intact and quasi-active since about 196-somethin'.

Although I must agree with your assessment of their look and talent. Amazing musicians.

As for the BNL  . My wife and I had a joke that whenever there was an open night at the Palace of Auburn Hills, they would book the Bare Naked Ladies. It seems like they played there every other weekend in the late 90's. She hates them. I tolerate them. If she had a million dollars, she'd pay them to never perform again.

Me, I'd hide out under there...

Beowolf it must of been Roger Waters they re-united with for the concert. He was with them. I really have not kept up with the old bands I did see many of them in the 60's and 70's though. Too bad about BNL don't think I've ever heard of anyone who hates them that much. "Not a real green dress that's cruel"

It was a big deal for Roger Waters to unite with David Gilmour and the rest of PF. Apparently those two have not spoken in a long time. I haven't seen any of their set but want to. I'm sure it'll be available on line or via dvd.

I like Pink Floyd, but I was hoping that this thread would be more about the reason for the concert. I think I'll start another one so as not to hijack the thread about the performances.

All the live 8 concerts are available online. I looked last night. All they had was the whole show from each stage. So you'd have to listen to the whole show from the beginning. But it did say that in the near future the individual performances would be available.
