For you devotees of potato launchers, it looks as if Appleton, Wisconsin has become the U.S. capital of development and production, as directed by a guy named Joel Suprise. His launchers will fire "anything imaginable," including pop bottles and golf balls as well as potatoes. It is reported that he "never drinks beer while assembling the guns," and if that extends to users I guess that lets out the majority of us. There's much more at his web site, www.spudtech.com (http://www.spudtech.com) including some speculation as to the origins of these weapons.

P.S. The website for potato launchers in my post doesn't work. but it does come up OK when you call it up in the address location in your browser. Happy spud-booms.

Down south, we call them 'tater shooters.' It's amazing what you can do with plastic pipe, WD40, and a gas grill ignitor!!

Clarification - it's got to be OLD WD-40. Works a treat!

I don't think I have ever used old WD40. What does that do?

What a hoot! A spud gun with a flash supressor. Something tells there's a Darwin Award in there somewhere.

I'm glad you mentioned the Darwin Awards. :D I had forgotten about that!
