View Full Version : New (to me) 'puter!
SWMBO's letting me use her new laptop tonight. I spilt a Gin&Tonic on mine, and the G and H keys don't work.
What a treat! HP nx7010, with a panoramic monitor. Unfortunately, it's running XP professional, which is sufficiently different from XP Home that it's taking me longer than it should to tweak the interface.
No email set up tonight, so don't send any. You can't PM me because Herr Bell still has me shut out.
'Puter-wise, this is a lovely machine. The monitor is like letter-box on a TV, and the innards absolutely fly. Spreadsheet users need to look into this setup.

sure it aint the G & T keys that dont work ;)
Try pulling the keyboard apart and giving the guts it a wipe with a damp cloth. make sure you clean slides where the keys slot in cause they get sticky really easily. the inards are pretty robust nowadays. Mine survived red wine bath not so long ago.

Take that keyboard outside and put the garden hose to it, then a final rinse with distilled water, stand on edge in a warm place to dry. If it don't work then Oh well we tried.

Nothing better than a laptop Donn. Sitting on the sunset deck with mine listening to the HOWL of crickets. Sipping a bourbon and smoking a cigar reading the WBF via wireless, as SWMBO puts Tess to bed. Dam I almost feel southern, Somebody put on some Porgy & Bess I wanna hear Summertime :D
