Dear all,
A while ago I came across a web site, somewhere in a Scandinavian country, featuring a shiny new wooden kayak built by catholic catechesis class attendants, in preparation for first communion or confirmation.
Unfortunately I did not keep the link and now I cannot find it anywhere. I am a Catholic, thought the idea was great and would like to implement a similar project in my son’s school.
Has anybody seen this site or heard of a similar project? Could anybody please point me in the right direction?
Best regards,
Carlos A.

There's a bunch of kayak plans and kits out there. Any one would probably do for your purpose. I'd think that finding that particular link would be beside the point. Try googling kayak plans or kayak kits....
This question isn't as cynical as it might sound, but what does kayak building (worthy in its own right) have to do w/ CCD, ("Confraternity of Christian Doctrine" in my day)a bit of sugar to make the medicine go down?

You are a Catholic, and a Basque, judging from your last name...

Maybe it's about the "Kayak of the Fisherman?" Got me! LOL Heck, who needs an excuse to build a boat, anyway!

Tom,
To your question: that is precisely my question! ;) I just saw the picture of the kayak and the legend stating it had been built by the class. I would like to contact that professor to further understand.
My guess is that by working the wood, some aspects of the doctrine can be better explained. I can imagine the metaphors. Jesus himself was a carpenter prior to his public life.
George,
Indeed: catholic and Basque last name; my grandfather was from Pamplona...careful though, one goes over there and has to be very specify as to clarify that grandpa was in reality Navarre, from Pamplona to be more precise. Stating otherwise could hurt nationalistic feelings. It happened to me… :D
I was born Colombian, and currently live in Mexico.
Thanks to both of you for your replies.
