what do you think of author david poyor?

I'm reading his first two civil war naval novels and they have a great feel but seem to lack... something ...?

He's probably my second favorite author. I've read all his novels except THE DEAD OF WINTER (which I can't find), THE RETURN OF PHILO T. McGIFFIN , STEPFATHER BANK , and A COUNTRY OF OUR OWN. (haven't got around to it yet). The Dan Lenson series is better than Clancy, IMO... all the action and complexity without the hundreds of pages of garbage (the exception would be BLACK STORM , which was dreadfully boring to me).

Hemlock County series is emotionally powerful, very descriptive. Tiller Calloway series is outstanding and suspensful. Oddly, the Civil War at Sea series was far from my favorite, though still very good.

      Can't recommend him enough!

      Later,

      Phil
