So there I was, surfing channels, and hit C-Span just in time to see a young woman, name of Peta (last name ?Lindsay?) introduce the next speaker at a protest against GW. I've seen the acronym ANSWER bandied about, but hadn't paid much attention to it. The name (Peta; who names their kid Peta?) and the bile that was the speech that followed, piqued my interest. I haven't found much on the net, but what I did find suggests this is a far-left fringe group (Act Now to Stop the War and end Racism). From what I've seen on this forum, we should have some card-carrying members that, perhaps, can tell us what they stand for, provide some illumination! tongue.gif
The little I've read suggests, at least from my perspective, that this is just a far-left whack job org. But they seem to be getting a lot of media time; is this group a significant representative of NY politics?

Actually, I was thinking of PETA, and the reception they've noted in the Midwest. I looked for, but failed to find, the billboard I believe is in Montana

ANSWER is a front for the Marxist Workers World Party. (http://www.workers.org/) It's also intertwined with the International Action Center which was founded by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark,currently on Saddam's legal team, and is itself a front for the WWP. Not in Our Name, another anti-war organization, is a front for the Revolutionary Communist Party (http://rwor.org/rcp-e.htm) a sometime supporter of the Shining Path guerillas in Peru. If you ever wondered at how the "grass-roots" anti-war movement was able to organize such large demonstrations so quickly now you know. These same players are also involved in organizing the anti-globalization protests.
