Damn Nice day to be out on the water

Dew Point:
40°F
Visibility:

One of those crisp beginning of fall days on the Hudson. Thinking about Jack finally getting out on the water tomorrow made me want to get out today and JUST DO IT

It's so easy now with the skiff down at the Boat Club, I dropped Tess off at Karate ( yea whole nother story ) So anyway I'm already in town and it is a incredible day so what the hey let me go for coffee at Guinans and motor over from Cold Spring.

Likity split I'm puttering away from the Cold Spring dock due south to Garrison. BEAUTIFUL DAY. Sun is shining and I', Loving it. Get to Garrison so fast tie up go grab a coffee and a buttered roll, talk with the gawkers and locals looking at the skiff.

Finish up and back out on the water. I experimented with a line on either end of the motor so I could sit on the center thwart and steer. But I noticed that if I put the motor dead center and the right rpm's I could simply change course by leaning port or starboard and ride the chine. Kinda like a motorcycle. I navigated the sharp "S" curve from Garrison to the Cold Spring dock with out ever once moving the tiller on the motor. Kinda cool

OH and of course some photos

Nice.

Weather is rainy, foggy/misty, little wind, and 50ish degrees.

We're still going out on the boat though!

Speaking of steering by shifting your weight...

Have ya noticed how you'll be just perfectly lined up to get into your slip, until everyone gets up at the last minute and moves to the same side of the boat to help tie up?

I'm not on the water today but have finished my Windsprint mast and I ripped out the boom and the yard this morning.

Gonna sand and varnish now.

A wicked topic for this moment today. At around noon I was about set to head out for the night and hook into one of a couple pretty coves I had in mind. The girls were headed for the Common Groun Fair.

I felt kinda spent from the work week and I've got a filled schedule for the next week. I've got a nice book going so I figured I'd pass on the overnight and cruise with the girls.

It seems to me that this may be the first time I have ever put off an overnight on the boat cause I'm just plain tired. It's a lot of work.
What's wicked about it is that some of this may be a function of my age.

Such a nice day my buddy had to go for an evening ride. He asked me to play hooky but I had family obligations.

Would you let this used man in your house?

By golly, you're a handsome devil Joe.
