Congratulations and welcome aboard the good ship Pileofrotwithpotential :D
That's almost the words SWMBO used when she saw Ned's pics. She approved the project based on this pic of a pair of 16 footers:

Now I ask you...is that misrepresentation? :D

Magnificent, Donn! Are you going to do the work yourself?

Donn, I thought you were sensible, and semi retired. Welcome to the land of the worker, ... again.
How is Mrs West, now? :D .
Warren.
ps, To coin a well used Aussie term, ... get into it, Mate!

Wow! great project. One of the things I was kind of dreading when I built the Thistle was the rivets. But after a couple of practice tries it turned out to be the most fun. The clench nails were fun also. I didn't have to steam any frames but I have done some wood steaming - I built the family toboggan.
I hope we'll get to see progress photos. Nice find Donn.

Bruce...I'll do the grunt work..and holzbt and his shop will help me with anything that involves skill.
Warren...I'm so sensible, I'm downright conservative, but as holzbt has told me, I'm officially addicted now. Loon's topside paint job has been temporarily suspended. SWMBO is letting me go on this ( because no money has been spent yet...just wait)..but she has reminded me that I still have to do the house, the boathouse, and the landscape.
Steven...I've never riveted anything but an aluminum boat, and have only steamed food. I have access to an expert on these things, however, and he tells me that steaming ribs is "fun"..we'll see.
It will be completely photo-documented.
