Heatgun? Solvent?

Huh?

Didn't it set deeply into the wood grain?

I've never seen CPES enough on the surface that you could remove it without removing wood as well.

Right, you'll have to sand it off. It didn't take much effort, seemed to me, to sand it off some okoume plywood I had it on which turned black when it got wet but then maybe is had penetrated further than it seemed and it only looked like it was gone.

Why do you want to get it off, if I may pry?

Just curious.

Just sand it. Whenever I get any someplace I don't want, (like the deck or the oiled interior surfaces...) a quick sanding leaves the wood looking like new.

Like most epoxies, CPES looses it's OOMPH when it's heated. When I strip varnish that has CPES under it with a heat gun, it seems the CPES on the surface comes off with the varnish. I then prep sand and lay another coat of CPES down. Never has been a problem at all.
