Until 1818 Cold Spring was a small settlement nestled on the shores of the Hudson River at its narrowest point. Folk lore says that the area was christened by General George Washington when, around 1780, he took a sip of water from the spring and announced, "Cold Spring."

Joe, our spare bedroom is an art studio/college study area/my dressing room/the cat's room. However, we can make modifications if you ever get down this way. There's actually a bed in there somewhere, and we'll even move the catbox to another area of the house. smile.gif

Your town is beautiful. I can see why you picked it. Thanks for the photos.

That is a beautiful town and surroundings, Joe. How far away is Manhattan?

50 Miles George. It is amazing I was hiking a ridge-line showing 40 acres to a customer. We were deep in the woods it was amazing to think that 50 mi. away was one of the worlds largest cities. Its kinda cool here.

Joe, is that the area where Jackson Pollock lived?

Na Sue that was out in the Hamptons NY. He lived there with Lee Krazner (sp) before it was cool to live there. As a matter of fact if it weren't for Pollock and DeKooning and the rest it might still be potato fields and not McMansions. Naaaaa urban sprawl would have happened anyway at least we got some art out of the deal eh ;)

Dan Flavin used to live in town as well as a few other artist.
