It's a true American classic, and even entertaining. I don't, generally, 'do' musicals but that film is a gem. The only other one I can watch without falling asleep or wretching is The Music Man. Largely on Robert Preston's performance.
Wasn't Debbie Reynolds in both of them? Wasn't she 'madame librarian'? There is an under-sung actress. Her dramatic performance in From Here to Eternity was first rate, and she could sing! And pretty! I think she much more beautiful than say Monroe. [img]smile.gif[/img]
