Now over the last few weeks and sometimes in the past Ive read of other forumites having real negative, threatening or otherwise pm and email contacts from forumites.

Ive been on the woodenboat forum something like 3 years and in all that time have received no threatening pms emails or anything else... the occasional heated response to a thread perhaps asked for perhaps not but never beyond that... the closest would be the disagreement with Dave with which we both have the decency to understand our positions accept the status quo and move on

But never has anyone contacted me in anyway to abuse or lamblast insult or threaten me... and thats interesting to me... why? because its strange I post to any and all threads here and above that takes my fancy and create those I think are interesting or of interest or have a curiosity for an answer to one of my 100000001 questions... Ive posted to political threads that have heated up and flared flamed and burnt people left right and centre Ive argued and debated with people with what I fell are fundimentally flawed mind sets about things... but never has any even the common so called "trolls" ever chosen to threaten abuse insult of whatever to me over it

So can someone explain to me why it is that so many others are copping this sort of thing? I just find it interesting and ask the question what is it that causes some people to pm email or otherwise threaten abuse insult or let rip at some people and not others?

No Im not interested in getting any of this sort of thing but its got me curious does it actually happen or is it some sort of attention seaking? dont take that wrong either! Im just tryin to understand

Actually your right Jeff I actually make a conscious effort to try not to irritate people but sometimes fail and at others just cant help meself :rolleyes:

I remember back awhile I tended to blow up and have a go when someone posted something I tended to strongly disagree with... It took some time but I learnt not to do that... but even then none of this pm and email stuff happened... I find it amazing thats all.

Your rignt Mike some dont read anything posted by some people for whatever reason they may or may not have that may or may not be real or assumed :rolleyes: ... Ive found out that mine tend to drive some people nuts :eek: tis true!! yes I was amazed at that too but there you go ;) and so anyways some tend not to read my posts I know this and its cool... others dont like me and or my style and so dont read my posts and heck thats fine... I sure wouldnt get phissed of about it

Personally Ive never been "intimidated" by knowledge rather it tends to encourage me to ask yet more dumb questions! but sometimes this is where I go wrong and it all goes leg up and I end up in the ****e with people... ah well sometimes one has to accept the silent treatment and thats fine in the end too no worries... takes all sorts we accept it and move on :cool:

Sometimes we assume that a person is saying something in a manner that we dont like {gawd have I been guilty of that one!} and we get arced up and bark of a really phissed of response and then when the dust settles and the mood swings and apologies and friendship comes calling we accept and move forward... sometimes not... either way its dealt with in the end and we move on each to their own ways a bad moment put behind us

What I dont understand is why anyone would bother trying to threaten someone they likely will never meet who lives far away from them over something said implied or assumed on an internet forum... doesnt make sence... but then when that person gets all antsy and makes posts about the threatening pm email or whatever well mate it simply amazes me

I shall indelibly mark into me noggin that it is Sargent Sargernt S.... him!... but then as he was portrayin a GERMAN soldier of the equivalent rank of Sargent that would be a... nope! not gonna try it cause it will be wrong and I have no idea of the correct pronaunciation spelling or anything...and do not intend to get Martins ire any firther oops further angst unsettled so will leave that alone... but it shall from hereon be whatsisname "SCHULZ or SCHULTZ" from the tv show "hogans heros"
