View Full Version : How mechanical devices work - Donn?, anyone?
I recently heard of a book that has been re-released, it describes how mechanical things work.
The book was published years ago and is touted to be an excellent resource on explaining how things work.
The problem, I have forgotten the title and author.
Do any of you know what it might be?

edsr...there have been quite a few such books. One of them, re-released last year, is The New How Things Work, John Langone, National Geographic. Probably the most well known was re-released in '98, The New The Way Things Work, David Macaulay, Houghton Mifflin.

A friend of mines little boy tore up their smoke detector so he could "see how it works." :D
Been there...done that...so I showed him this web site....How Stuff Works. (http://home.howstuffworks.com/).
It's not the greatest site, but it might save you an appliance or two. ;)
