View Full Version : Fulmar Update - Exterior Hull Construction Complete!

Exterior hull construction is complete! This summer I have fabricated and installed the outer stem, outer keel, bilge runners, keel reinforcing strips, and gunwales. All of these were made from mahogany and bonded with West System epoxy (105 resin and 206 hardener). Some temporary screws were used during the glue up but all have been removed. At this point there are still no mechanical fasteners used on the boat.

I’ve spent the past couple weekends scraping and sanding which has proven to rank pretty low on the fun scale. The primer is on order along with an Interlux Brightside paint color chart to peruse. The hull will be painted white but I haven’t decided which shade yet. The gunwales and transom are mahogany and will be varnished.
