Okay, so my Vols didn't play football to well this year. But hey, I'm over it and moving on. Now we can talk about Women's basketball. Here is this weeks AP top 25.

1 Duke 5-0
2 Tennessee 5-0
3 LSU 4-0
4 Ohio State 3-0
5 Baylor 6-0
6 Rutgers 2-0
7 North Carolina 4-0
8 Connecticut 5-0
9 Maryland 4-1
10 Minnesota 4-0
11 Notre Dame 4-0
12 Stanford 3-1
13 Michigan State 3-2
14 DePaul 5-0
15 Arizona State 4-1
16 Texas 3-1
17 Georgia 3-2
18 Temple 5-0
19 Vanderbilt 5-1
20 Oklahoma 5-1
21 New Mexico 5-1
22 Purdue 2-1
23 UCLA 2-2
24 Texas Tech 1-4
25 Utah 2-1

The Lady Vols are holding the #2 spot and challenging for the top spot. I haven't seen any of the TN games this year, but it looks like Summit is holding her own. Hey Jeff, looks like your ladies are in the #13 spot.

Side note, I did watch the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga play last night. A lowely Southern Confernce team handed it to the mighty SEC last night, final score UTC 72, Auburn 59 with a 3 pointer at the buzzer to put an excalmation point on the win.

Right now the Lady Mocs are un-ranked, but you never know that may change. smile.gif

Me too. They get ranked lower every year.... No matter, they usually rise to the top fairly fast...

I like women's basketball, though I admit not watching almost any sports. It seems closer to the spirit of the game. Lot's of teamwork, lot of clever and crisp passing, lot's of good shooting other than the power inside. A team with no stars that has the basics really down can win! Against even powerful stars.

Great game. Not as harsh as our gladiators on turf and ice. Finesse.

Good basketball is good basketball, and it's gotten more and more rare.

If you want to see good basketball, watch the Lady Vols. Not only are they great, but they are well coached, and nobody will dispute that fact.

Whatcha mean they don't Volunteer. Look at this quote and see whatcha think.

More than once in this young season, Pat Summitt has asked herself why she scheduled so many talented teams in the opening month.

It has resembled an NCAA tournament run for unbeaten Tennessee with four teams ranked in the top-16, and the Lady Vols have calmly handled each challenge.

Well, most of the time at least.

"I didn't feel calm out there," said Summitt, in her 32nd season in Knoxville. "When I looked at the schedule, I thought 'What have I done?"'TN not only started the season tough, but they have so far come out on top.

Chad

And did I mention that our small hometown Southern Conference team beat a SEC team? :D

Jack, there is still some great basketball being played at all levels

Tenn women play good team basketball.

Michigan State, and Duke men both play good team basketball. Right now, Tom Izzo is blasting his crew after every game (mostly wins) for not playing the level of defense that he expects of them. This team will get better as the season progresses. (And they're pretty good right now!)

Detroit and San Antonio both play exceptional team basketball. I've been turned back on to pro basketball as the two teams that focus on team play, defense, and a strong transition game are kicking the snot out of everyone else in the league! Take note, superstars, five good players will be one great one every time.

Looks like the Huskies got tarred and feathered by the Tar Heels 77-54.
