Well, I got married and had to move the boat 200 miles away to it's new home. I was on my last warning with the apartment complex I lived at anyway! smile.gif Two friends came to the rescue: one with a bobtail and one with a small crane.

Well the project became a bit more complicated than we had imagined. I thought at first that the most difficult part would be getting the boat out of the garage. Not the case, as we had it out in just minutes. A neighbor had some furniture moving dollys that worked perfectly. It then took a few hours to get the boat onto the bobtail as we tried a few different methods. Finally, we just wrapped truck straps around the boat, lifted it up, and backed the truck under it. The drive took 3.5 hrs back as we only drove 50 mph.
My friend with the crane actually owns a propane business and primarily uses it to set tanks. It can actually pick up 1.5 tons.
What's that comment about Americans??? smile.gif

it also appears you have a tolerant, very tolerant, new wife! poor thing, doesn't she know better than to take on a man with a boat project? ;)

That garage sure didn't look as deep as that boat is long.
How long is that boat anyway?
Glad you got it moved safely.

And I thought building a trimarn kayak in an apartment was pushing it!

Looks like a real nice boat.
What design is that?
Specs?

Oh yes.. The apartment was extremely generous considering where I lived; Los Angeles. Even though, they kindly gave a date to have it gone. The cookies just weren't enough! In kind, my wife is great too - I've actually set up shop at her parents house out in the country. I'll be building a temporary structure around it closer to the wet season but having it out there gives me a whole new perspective I didn't have inside that little garage. I can actually view it laterally!!!

Anyway, it is a 28' Miss Chriss by Ken Hankinson and Associates. The plans came lofted and are simple. The topside will be all custom as is the transom but the hull is basically what we were after. We've spent approximately a year and a half on it so far. It takes us young guys longer than you old folks because we can't retire yet~ smile.gif

Anyway, you're making good progress. I'm amazed you were able to build that hull with so little room to work along the sides.
