Garage day. Maureen's car: change winter tire to summers. My truck: change winter tire to summers. Change oil & filter. Clean & re-oil air filter. Replace burnt-out signal lamp. Swap winter grill cover to summer screen cover. Clean out a winter's worth of crap and beach sand from the interior. Take off broken/rusted-out driving lights and install new ones. Remove, adjust, & re-install tailgate latch mechanism. Sharpen & tune up the chainsaw. Spring commissioning of the lawn tractor. By the time I finish all of that, it will be time for a beer...

Tomorrow is busy:

pick up a couple of my guitars from the Guitar Doc
change strings on three guitars
install a sound-hole pickup in the Morgan (it's getting a new acoustic pickup as I write this, but I need magnetic/electric-style output as well)
reorganize my guitar rig and ensure that the signal flow is working as intended (a bit complicated because I route four instrument outputs through two effect units, only one of which is active at any give time)
calibrate a tuner for the bagpipes I'll be playing with next week, tune the Morgan to the pipes, and familiarize myself with the charts for the song and tunes I'll be playing with the piper
cart everything to our first full rehearsal with the full band and dancers, and rehearse for what I'm guessing will be at least three hours

Sunday, by comparison, is relatively slack - breakfast out, followed by a visit to my folks' place north of the city, and dinner with the family. Maybe a bit of time to work on my vanity font project in the evening.

And legally required in some provinces; Manitoba is considering it. Winter tires and AWD make winter driving a lot more enjoyable, and a lot safer.

Its already Saturday morning here, so I'm cooking scones for a Devonshire Tea for the writers group that I belong to, the meeting is this afternoon and its my turn to provide refreshments.
That done I'll tow Spook down to my mothers place, strip the rig and put it in the shed for winter maintenance. I've got the little gaffer going pretty well, embarrassing most of my friends much more "modern" boats, but there is a lot more to come so there are changes to be made, a new mainsail to be ordered for next summer, the jib sheet leads to be moved, a lighter weight gaff jaws, lighter halyards run, a different foil section made on the daggerboard ( She has a full length keel plus a daggerboard, thats the secret weapon) and a few other things done to get that bit extra. I know that the guys are all working on their boats, so I need to do some tuning to keep that edge.
All that done there is a picnic gathering for small trad boats tomorrow, so I need to put SEI and her rig on the trailer and get her there in the morning.
If there is time I'll work on one of the two boats abuilding in the workshop.

I like Chicago, I like Earth Wind and Fire. I hated it when they were touring together. as the only real electrician on the crew, I actually have one of the easiest jobs. Nothing gets plugged into power unless I do it. Somebody has to keep people safe from six 400 amp service panels we have on that stage. Nobody has been fried or bit on my watch and I am going to make sure nobody will.

Well that plan didnt last long. I spotted a facebook post that had one of my Tender Behind dinghies free to a good home, and a response from a friend of mine who is struggling with cancer treatment and trying to get his little double ended yacht into good enough condition to live aboard, or at least get a bit of sailing in. He needed a dinghy, and a TB would fit on his foredeck, so I put my oar in, organised a pickup and its now sitting up on the grass next to SEI, DeFlatermouse and the Kayak. I'll take it on up to my friends place on Tuesday when I'm heading that way.
I hope tomorrows plan survives.

Remove the cover from the boat, pressure wash her inside and out, step the mast and check all the fittings. Test the reef points I added over Winter. The sun's out, the wind light and the temperature is just about double-digits Celsius. Jack up the trailer and check the bearings and tyre pressures.

...in my heart. My head points out, in that annoyingly practical way it does, that I'm working today and tomorrow. :(

Not sure what the weather has been out in Bridgewater area but here in Halifax, we just got a dumping of snow the other day. You sure you're ready to swap out your winters for summers Michael? I contemplated it the other day but I'll wait until next weekend I think. Just in case mother nature isn't done fooling with us yet.

Wife Tereza and I went to the historic gold mining town of Hill End- I lived five miles from there when I was teenager. They're putting on a weekend of folk and craft stuff. We wandered around, chatted to a few old friends, had a big feed of seafood paella, got home around four and I fell asleep in my chair. Hundred mile round trip on the Harley- twisty country road, air just cool enough to feel good. Still pickin critters out of my beard :) JayInOz

Will clean house .... today.

This year we hired a house cleaning service that comes every other week. I have to say it is one of the best investments we've ever made.
No more beautiful weekend days spent with me starting in the kitchen and Renee starting bathroom and meeting in the middle cleaning the house all day.

Now Monday ( tomorrow ) two lovely ladies with a plethora of cleaning supplies and experience, spend two hours cleaning our place better than we could ever.

Time is commodity you will never get back.

This morning, I will do some schedule and setting up spreadsheets for tomorrow's payroll and list of to do's to go over with my monday morning meeting with my admin. Also write out our corporate IRS checks :(

Then I'm gonna go out for a bicycle ride to blow off some steam

Paul does most of the he housework during the week, but not the bathrooms. I do the bathrooms. Since it is just the two of us, itís not that much. Iíve priced out housecleaning services, because of our remote location and number of pets, it is still cost prohibitive.

Several years ago I bought a perpetual bi-weekly house cleaning service for her for her birthday. At the time she was working 12-14 hour days. After six months or so she begged me to discontinue it as she always felt compelled to clean the house before the maids arrived lest they think we live in a dirty house. She said the added stress was too much.

Sundays plan worked. Seeing as I was one of those who set up the meeting, I figured that I should brave the not so good weather and take SEI (15ft rowing and sailing double ender) around to the bay where we were supposed to gather. it wasnt a nice day for rowing, 20 knots plus forecast, and the weatherman had got it right, wind against tide so short steep chop, about 5km each way. I had the only boat there and two others walked in, so we had an hour sitting under a tree out of the occasional very cold shower of rain before I rowed back. We got bounced around so much that the dog got seasick!
Oh well, shoulders slightly tender today, but otherwise ok, no blisters, and it was a good trial in open water for the little boat. Almost no water at all on board in spite of waves about twice the height of the gunwale and very close together, SEI performed really well.

Got home and did a bit of a tidy up in the workshop ready to do some work today.

First off -
@ Ron - no you are not the only one doing taxes
@ Michael (MMD) - thank you for ammunition on the ongoing "Southern NS is south of us, so moving there would be moving closer to the sun!" "discussion". Our snows won't come off until mid-May.

Besides taxes, I spent much of yesterday boiling (around here, people know what that means - to others: boiling sap to make maple syrup), got the truck & light bar, etc. together for pulling the CC out of winter storage tomorrow morning (the trailer registration is still valid - hot damn!), seeing if the garden tractor that has the leaf bags will start (it did, but leaves have to get un-soggy first), unloading/moving some big stones (1'x4'x3') for a retaining wall, pulling driveway stakes (for marking driveway for plowing - 4 out of ~30 weren't broken off!) and now I get to relax & deal with writing 2 reports (for work) that were supposed to be done by tomorrow morning, but yesterday hit the high 60's & I couldn't make myself sit at the confuser.
