Garibaldi was instrumental in the unification of Italy. Is this somewhere North of there?

Just got back from a week road trip on the Oregon Coast. Didn’t see that but saw a lot of gorgeous sights, not for the first time. One of my favorite places for a road trip.

Meanwhile... my Oregon kids are just coming back from a few days up your way. In a cabin on Spirit Lake (Mt. St. Helens).

Any rumblings?

Any rumblings?

Doubtful. St. Helens is quiet now. The scientists speculate that the next place to blow might be Mt. Hood.

I used to go to Boys Scout camp on Spirit Lake. We always looked for a large enough chunk of volcanic pumice to float one of us as we paddled around the lake.

Ditto on a lake here in in the western district. About 6ft square and a foot or so thick. Floated 3 or 4 boys.
pumice was only about 4-5000 years old.
That volcano is still considered dormant and there is another.
