What’s the point of painting a little bit of the superstructure yellow? Looks odd to my eye.

There is only one cool mega I’ve seen in the Caribbean , IMO, ..”Nahlin”.
Happy to see there may be another similar mega floating around.

Perhaps it represents some sort of cultural reference? The Danish royal yacht, Danebrog, sports similar livery.

What is the point/purpose of masts on ships like this?

(besides being places to mount radar and from which to hang pennants...)

I can see a spot where they forgot to put a porthole:) JayInOz

The masts have use as mounting points for steaming lights (which are required to be elevated by a proscribed amount) antennas, radar, signal flags, boat and cargo hoists, etc.. very useful.

The clipper bow and bowsprit on the other hand...

I haven't looked it up, but by the style & construction, I would guess the the yacht in the OP is rather old - 1930's vintage?

Built in 1937 for Sir T.O.M. Sopwith of America's Cup fame.

Can't speak for them, but if I'd done it - it would be to break the profile into two compositions. Maximizing the harmoniously consistent horizontality of the white bits/main composition (which become prominent), while minimizing the visual lumpiness of the beige bits (which color is less eye-catching) that might detract from the former.

Now... about that stack... <G>
