Rachel had an interesting segment last night.

One of Mueller's options is to give his entire findings to the House Judiciary committee.

We can look at Clinton, where the house voted articles in impeachment, but the senate did not convict. Many argue Clinton came out stronger after this process.

This time around, we are likely to have substantially different charges. Clinton was charged with lying about his sex life.

Ponder some of the things Trump may be charged with. Likely many far more serious charges.

Assuming, which is not always a good idea, but for this post, let's, there are really damning charges brought by the house: tax evasion, conspiring with foreign powers, conflicts of interests, violating the emoluments clause, etc.

Would there be a point where there is sufficient evidence and the charges so severe that the Republican senators would no longer be able to stand by their man?

When the Congress can resume its role of oversight, the problem will largely take care of itself, talk of impeachment is a distraction, and distraction is the president's* milieau. Agree w Pless, cart and horse.

He could shoot someone in Times Square and the current bunch of Republican criminals would still defend him.

The advent of Trump has definitively revealed that the Conservaturds would quite happily go back to business as usual. Getting rid of Trump would be easy for them.

Of course, they might not like what comes next.

Only when they saw that one of their own, Kavanaugh, was not immune from the lies, hatred and bigotry of the Democrats did the Conservaturds close ranks with the Trumpies. The open borders, warmongering internationalist wing of the party would instantly peel back off when something more palatable comes along.

The election is only a few days off.

This "pondering" is moot if GOP retains both chambers.

However, it appears at least 'likely' Dems win a house majority.

Then it's no longer moot. We can also ponder the evidence showing campaign conspiracy and, perhaps, other illegal acts, and consider Trump AND Pence were elected in part from illegal campaign activity.

Speaker of the House?

Interesting to mull; a distraction to act on (for now). Some of the other threads, exploring how/why so many of our fellow citizens diverge on these issues is likely to provide insight as to how to lead to a unified populace, which would have a better shot at cleaning up politics. Unicorns, both, of course.
