View Full Version : A vote for any Democrat...

There is an advert running here that claims a vote for any Democrat is a vote for socialism, open borders, and tax increases. It really is an ugly lie and just convinces me further that a vote for any Republican is a vote for someone who will lie to me.

I will feel differently toward any Republican who condemns this advertisement, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think we have proven without a doubt with party is more comfortable with lying.

Certainly, more and more voters find the polarization both frustrating and tiresome --

The thing I find saddest is that there is so little understanding of how we got here... and therefore, how we reverse course.

The socialism bit is dumb, but there's nothing to condemn in the statements about open borders and tax increases.

They're true.

There was once a journalist here who had a reputation for skewering politicians who would not answer questions, or just spouted the party line.
Now she's a politician, and a candidate………….. guess what?:ycool:

In the Maryland governor's race, it is true.

And what is wrong with raising taxes? I know nobody wants to pay them, but look around, the country is falling apart as our infrastructure crumbles. Somebody has to pay something to repair everything that actually did make this country great.

It's Trump's ad. Does that change your opinion? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/29/us/politics/trump-ads-republicans-midterms.html

Also open borders is dumb, unless open borders means "how we've operated since the 1930s".

Tax increases is true, but Democratic dogma has been raise taxes on the rich and cut everyone else. I thought the corporate tax cut was long overdue, but I didn't need or want a personal tax cut. I could get behind my taxes going up and my daughters' going down.

No, no, no - you just borrow the money & let our kids pay for it.

The rich want to hang on to their money.
It makes them feel important.
Trump understands that feeling.

Exactly right. What is the difference to the middle class tax payer if you cut his taxes by a few hundred $$, cut taxes tremendously on the rich, run up a debt that has to be paid, and cut Social Security and Medicare? Either we pay for it or our kids will, but it's worse than a tax because it denies us the support we need in the process. We need to pay the taxes that match the spending and put the lie to trickle down stupidity.
