My wife says I have too many hats and caps. She is probably right. But I have a few hats that are my favorites.

This is one of them. I got the original cap in SE Alaska in 1974. Had to transfer the patch to another cap after it fell apart.

Post your favorite!

I only wear a hat when I walk in the woods.
Here is the hat I have.
It is great when it starts to rain and it makes me look cool.

Dodgy looking graphics. Isn't that a NoWakeZone? Izzat outfit still in business? Whatever happened to all those rumors of affiliations with the Trump group... rumrunning... and tax issues? All good now?? <G>

You knew someone would tease you about the self-promotion <G> As the BROTM in Waiting (wait... isn't that a town in Newfoundland?... well nevermind)(oh... NOW I remember... it was a novel set in St. Anthony, called "Waiting for Thestove") - I figured I could jump in and save the current BROTM, ol' wassisname, from getting his hands dirty. ;)

Me? I don't wear baseball caps much - or hats of any sort. Sometimes, though. I kinda like this one from Port Townsend --

I have a few Mount Gay rum hats.

Some are brand new and some are 'pink'.

On EBAY they range from $18 - $79.00.

Mt Gay Rum Barbados, Foxy’s Wooden Boat Regatta 2000.

Condition: Used
.
Startng bid :
US $60.00

Mt Gay Rum “Foxy’s Wooden Boat Regatta” year 2000, limited amount of hats are given out to each boat participating.

Rare find for collectors, due to the fact so few made for each regatta sponsored by Mt Gay Rum, extra bonus the hat is from “Foxys Jost Van Dyke, BVI.

Rated by Time Magazine, 1 of the top 3 New Years Eve Party for the year 2000 (Piccadilly Circus & Times Square)

The 18 year old hat was given to The Apache from the infamous Foxy himself.

The Mt Gay Hat is in great condition, has many stories, Rare find indeed!

2nd the notion that the wife says I have to many, I say never but she disagrees. Mine is not more of a specific cap but rather a specific style. I like a soft cap with a curved bill. If the sun isn't shinning I will have my Maui Jims on the bill obscuring what ever logo is on it. Most of my favorite caps will be fairly plain and dark with a subdued logo, either Falcons or Vols (see picture below). Another of my favorites is the Cheers hat and the Jimmy Buffet for President hat. I used to love my Wooden Boat hat that Scott had sent me one time, but it has given up the ghost and is no more.

My condolences.

As the BROTM-in-waiting... I've pondered what I should accomplish to secure my place in history.

I got bupkes. I guess I'm just not very creative.

But then... here you come, with your tale of woe.

I hereby volunteer, upon my ascension to Official BROTM, to take up a collection to get you a Real Hat. A grateful world would, I bet, build me a statue... not to mention double the size of my parade <G>

With a NIKE logo? That'd be cool. Think about what you'd want in trade. And I bet I could get it all perfect for me. I like soft crowns, and curved bills, and sometimes that takes some massaging. Maybe add a bit of graphics... PM me if you need my mailing address <G>

Australian Outback. Oilskin/Waxed cotton originally.
Now it is a weird emulsion of sweat,WD40,diesel and chain oil.
Waterproof,it's great for cool weather and rain, but too hot in the summer.

No offense to anyone who likes fedoras and other full-brimmed hats, but I'll stick to schooner-proven head gear. Too much wind around here to wear a fedora (much as I like them) without risking its loss. The photo below is the crew that sailed the Lunenburg schooner Bluenose to England for the Silver Jubilee of King Edward I. The only fedora is worn by F.W. 'Casey' Baldwin, who was not a sailor nor a crewmember, but an engineer and aviator and was just going along for the ride. I count seven newsboy's caps, two ball caps, a navy cap, and a fedora.

You will notice she is not in that picture, didn't even go on that trip (BTW that is IronMule in the background). Hat doesn't get worn much for sure. That is my $130 Charlie One Horse straw hat that lives in the closet.

Chad

If memory serves that trip involved Memphis Mike and Sue, Peter K and his kids, IronMule, and I think even John Bell might have been at that one. I know John was at other outings we had. That was the days of the Southeast Boat Builders and Beer Drinkers. LOL

"I didn't know the Bluenose had Masonic connections." - robm

Three of the four owners: Captain Angus Walters, E. Fenwick Zwicker and his brother Arthur H. Fenwick were members of Unity Lodge No.4 in Lunenburg. According to his granddaughter Joan Roué, William J. Roué, the naval architect who designed Bluenose, was a member of a lodge in Dartmouth and many of the men in the Lunenburg shipyard that built her along with many of her crew were also Freemasons. Other known members of the Craft, mostly from Unity Lodge, who helped build or sail Bluenose include Arthur Corkum, Harold Corkum, Lawrence Allen, George Myra, Bordon Anderson, Tom Black, Perry Conrad, Matthew Mitchell, Merrill Tanner, Ellesworth Greek, Maurice Zinc, and Danny Mosher. (From The Watermark, Larry Burden, editor. Vol. 3 Issue 6. June 2013. p. 3.)

Four of the people mentioned in the article quote are in the picture I posted: Captain Angus Walters, Maurice Zinck, Danny Mosher, and Tom Black. The warrant to establish a Freemason's Lodge in Lunenburg was granted in 1821.
