I've read about a great road trip on The Ortega Highway that snakes a pass through the Santa Ana Mountains to Lake Elsinore. I've been wanting to take a little Vespa trip along it for sometime. The Mello Yello 150 cc would be a hard climb up the elevation, but the new Rosą GTV 300 handels the climbs and can keep pulling.

So Today's the day gonna pack up and hit the road today. I love exploring and this is a road I've never been on. It's been so much fun living here because every new place like this I will be seeing things for the very first time.

This is the route - Photos to follow

Vesperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
But I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you

Enjoy and post pics!

Did it get chilly up in the hills? We had a perfect fall day here, about 60f, sun and clouds, pretty windy, lots of red and yellow leaves all around.

So I just got back. It was a very beautiful ride, weather was high 70's with getting well past the 80's on the valley floor. . The 300 GTV handled the 3,000 ft of elevation and soaked up the bumps nicely. I will say, the small tires make the twisty's a little less forgiving at speed, and it is a VERY TWISTY road. Sadly there are a whole lot of roadside memorials that keep you humble.

I figured I would stop for a bite to eat when I arrived at Lake Elsinore. Ummmm NOPE the place is a bit depressed and the food choices looked dicey at best. Not exactly a resort community. I imagine you might be able to find Walter White quality meth there. So I did a quick loop around the lake and Climbed back out and got a late lunch in San Juan Capistrano.

As promised some photos.

Lookit that! Closed toe shoes. Nice. Some riding gloves next and you’ll be all set. Sounds like a nice days ride. I just put the Aprilia Scarabeo 200 away for the season. Not to worry, I still have the R60/Velorex rig ready for some more fall riding.

Thanks Kevin

Some of the shots I used my Apple Watch as a remote shutter. You can even select a timer from the watch so you can move your hand :)

Thought of you the other day, Joe.

I know it's not Hollywood Boulevard, but it's Vespa focused. Plenty of Vespa-specific shops in this town (Chiang Mai).

How many farkles would you like?

I might keep my eye open for a vintage one when I'm out on the road - the prices have gone up though. My first ever bike was a 1950's Vespa

Speaking of prices gone up.

This is a full restoration and I think, modification, of a 40 year old Vespa.

"Everything new" - I spotted a disk brake hydraulic reservoir on the bars... so I think it's got significant mods.

Price was US$7,670

I didn't buy it
