Quite like this:

But would make it out of 2" PVC .

Then I thought of this, but using 2x6 screwed to wall with 'pipe holders' on one side only.

Six at present, then another two when they have had a little/lot of TLC spent on them.

My fly rods live in wooden cases. Other than that I have a few FG rods but I am not a fisherman despite owning 5 boats and living next to good fishing grounds. Somehow it has never really appealed. Fly casting is more a technical skill than a fishing technique.

A buddy on Bequia used to store his in the shower so they got fresh water rinses daily.

I went to a flea market a while ago. Bloke had 12 rods in a canvas wrap. 10 each. No reels, but very sturdy beach casters, about 30 years old, various weights. I wanted just one. He wouldn't budge. I came away with all 12. 70.

I made some rod holders out of some red oak I had laying around.

there are a couple more like the one above behind my workbench

And I haven't learn my lesson about not leaving items in my truck, I still have six rods hanging from the ceiling in my 4Runner.

What are you building on that movable strong back?

I like that! I've seen some that are way too fine. I like rustic for fishing rods. It somehow seems more appropriate, or maybe I just own cheap rods. :)

I need to update my build thread. I have the frames built and attached to the strong back. Getting ready to attach the keelson.

the Keelson is 2x6 DF. It is going to take a little bit of persuasion. I've got some nylon straps to assist with the bending.

Yes, I decided MDO for the sides but DF ply for the bottom and transom, I will be sheathing below the waterline in fiberglass or maybe xynole.
