This bike has been in this spot for 2.5 years. Moss on the tires. Upholstery split.
Sad and lonely. Occupied by a spider.
Wonder what the story is.

There was a bike in the garage where I used to park. I wondered if it ever moved. So I put a penny on one turn signal cover. The penny stayed there for months

Stolen? It takes some serious neglect to rust the bar end weights like that. BMW fasteners and bits are among the most oxidation proof pieces in the known universe.

Electrical or mechanical problems would stop some owners cold.

may be owner is sick, hurt or dead... BMW motorcycles attract older men.

It's not a motorbike, it's an art installation.

I've got a 650 Dakar here that everyone seems to think hasn't been started in 6 years. It's at the bottom of my priority list

Sad. I saw a lot of those in Germany in 1953, two cylinder opposed, shaft drive, and quiet. A really nice bike. It is worth some TLC.

I've only the one now - a vintage Honda CB400F. If I were to consider adding something newer to take advantage of the more modern technology... I think one of the medium-sized BMW's would be my first look.

Check the plates to see if they are valid. If not - put a card on it requesting if it would be available. That will be a good bike once sorted out.

They made an 850 briefly. Having ridden both (got my ex-wife an 850 to use in place of her R75/6 after I decided to it) the 850 was a better ride, the 1100 vibrated a lot more.
