"Re-fastened with stainless steel pan head screws. Hull then coated with 6 coats of epoxy, 4 of them being a special English product that is nearly waterproof."
As a former marine surveyor I would be skeptical of any wooden vessel boasting of stainless steel fastenings below the water line. Expecially if coated with a product that is "nearly waterproof." As I recaall, the Coast Guard recommends that ss not be used in such applications. Stainless steel must have access to oxygen in order to resist corrosion. A ss screw in a wet plank, surrounded by moisture and starved of oxygen will rust like any other steel. I have pulled fastenings for inspection that had bright heads but which were broken off with rust at half their length. If I found fastenings of ss instead of bronze, etc. I would have certainly witten a finding in the report.

Just sayin
