Sorry, not what I intended. Nostalgia, maybe; something lost, something gained. I now mostly sail a fiberglass boat myself, less hassle.

Sailing for me today too, sunny but cool, a comfortable breeze with no surprises. I might even have gotten bored. But I took lunch, cheese and new bread on a sand bar and trailed a couple of beers over the side. No bites so I drank them. Out about 3 hours

Isn't there room for just one more house?!

I though Lake MV was restricted to residents only. Previous posts seem to put your address elsewhere. Have you moved?

I sailed from Toledo Beach to Put-in-Bay and return last weekend. My friend Dave wasn't a bit nervous to have me on board...

We had a good time, although Lake Erie decided to kick the crap out of us on the return trip.

Hopefully with 2 more dogs in need of monthly grooming :)

FWIW the boat I was out sailing yesterday is a cheap lake rental $7 per hr and the lake is about an hour in size ;) I did however say to Renee while we were out sailing that I missed Tidbit terribly. Although it's kinda nice to sail back into the slip, toss the dock lines to the marina kids and walk off and leave tidying up to them, all for $7

Lake Mission Viejo is a supper planned city the lake is man made and part of the overall plan.

Although there is HUGE over development here, if you travel just a couple of miles outside of where I live you are DEEP in wilderness as far as the eye can see.

Don't you still have 'visitation rights' to your boat?

Nice area, and yeah - hard to beat the 'one hour' rates and no hassle.

Yea I still have 'visitation rights' in perpetuity, I doubt I will ever take them up on it, but it's nice thought to hold onto.

So, you’re saying you need some kind of trailerable catboat, eh? :)

Whatever the boat, whatever the location, it looks like Joe and Renee and relaxed and enjoying themselves. That's all good.

I have to say MV Lake is almost too small for a boat like Tidbit. The eventual goal would be to get a 28' - 32' ft classic glass and keep her down in Dana Point and sail to Catalina or Newport. I spend my time these lusting after ads on Yachtworld.

I was thinking more Tomcat than Tidbit. Plus, I was only teasing. A little. ;)

$7 sailboat rental is nice.

But man, I grew up in Levittown NY ( the original suburbia ), and developments like Lake Mission Viejo gag me now.

Compared to Levittown to Mission viejo is like comparing Action (AKA Accident ) Park to Disneyland ;) Agreed they are both planed amusement parks but one is WAY WAY WAY Nicer and more well planned.

Mission Viejo is seriously extremely nice and clean and God Damn beautiful. The roads, community grounds are PISTINE and maintained on almost a minute by minute basis. There is an army of groundskeepers and road workers keeping every little blade of grass perfectly maintained. The homes are immaculate and every aerobicized stepford wife is out jogging or walking around the lake ( with dog in tow ;) ) All the kids are straight out of central casting. OH and yea it's like 99.89563% lily white. There is ABSOLUTELY no nightlife, everything closes at 7:59 pm, and you can practice being a Brit on the road after 11:00 pm :D There is also absolutely no town, no main st, no neighborhood, no downtown, nadda. Just small very pretty strip malls with hidden gems of some nice places to go and eat, as long as you are done before 8:00 :D.

We are 28 min away from the towns of Laguna, Dana Point, & San Clemente so it's a real bedroom community, it's great for business but kinda boring. Eventually the plan is to move into a town like San Clemente and live ina . vintage Ole Hanson home close to Del Mar and the beach.

Ya gotta understand, Joe, where I am now in south Whidbey Island the 100'-150' cedars and firs outnumber humans by like 10,000 to 1. :-)

We have already begun thinking about what will happen, boat-wise, if we wind up moving to Colorado. Lake Dillon is quite some distance from Denver and is over the Divide. I am pretty much through racing so the only boat I'd probably haul with me would be the cat boat. I'd like to say we'd take the wife's motor boat but I don't know what we'd do with it? So if we did move that would be the end of the Dragons for me. A tough thing to contemplate, but we don't want to miss grandkids growing up just to be able to keep boats we aren't using.

Then again, having a place on the Gulf for everyone to come home to, with all of the boats, might be best? It ain't an easy decision.

Joe, it is good to see you sailing again. You were a grand steward for 'Tidbit' and made it possible for many more people to enjoy her beauty.
