Ever notice we all laugh in the same language?

Hahaha. Hehehe.

Everyone does it.

Peace,
Robert

Sometimes there's a snort or two.

I was watching a video of guys in the Marshall Islands sailing canoes.

I couldn’t understand anything they said, but we all laughed in harmony when one guy capsized.

And, who DOESN’T laugh at farts. I’m sure the first laugh was as startling as the first fart that caused it.

Peace,
Robert

Ælfric of Eynsham, about a thousand years ago, recorded that "hehe" was the written version of laughter.

So there you go.

I was discussing humour with my wife a couple of weeks ago, and while we agreed that there's a human need to have a reaction to the absurd - things taking us out of the 'normal', pratfalls, jokes working on two levels (literal non-joke, subtext joke), I suggested it might be an evolutionary defence mechanism.

For example: two parties of early humans meet unexpectedly - they can fight, one csn flee, or both can share 'the absurdity' of life by the commonspace of humour. Might have saved a few necks now and again.

Unlike the threads on Psychopathic behavior, a keen sense of humor indicates a superior intellect.

Well, that explains why I never get jokes!

Peace,
Um... What?

Laughing may well be a universal language, but chortling and guffawing are definitely British. <wink, grin>

Outside the Randolph VT town offices (on a fairly busy street) is a sign over a space that says "Don't even think of parking here" & on the next one to it: "Here either".

They're reserved for police use.

Mel Brooks tells a story of WW2. He was a Sgt, waiting for something (he can't remember what) in a small German town. There was a fenced corral full of German POWS waiting to be processed. There was also a large group of GGIs waiting for chow.
Mel, being Mel, spotted a loudspeaker set up, and grabbed the mike. He gave his best AL Jolsen imitation and sang "Mammy, How I Love Ya".
Everybody laughed, German and GI alike.
Except the various officers.

Laughing is not all we have in common.

Most mammals take about 21 seconds to pee, except for old men with bad prostates.
