The boat is a 'Tjalk', probably built around 1900 in Friesland, because they preferred narrow strakes. In Groningen, where I live now, they were more pennywise and used the widest hull plates posible.
The sawmill in the background might use a ' raamzaag' that is invented in 1592 in Uitgeest. A circular movement is transformed in a vertical movement so 5 or 6 bandsaws in a frame could saw a tree in a fraction of the time needed before. It kickstarted our 'Golden Century'.

My son Joris sailing on "tjalk" Overwinning (Dutch for Victory) on the Waddenzee, you can see their dog sleeping as he likes when sailing and take a look at the GPS at the end.
