Capable of submerging to 1500 meters (4900 feet), carries six people, and only five million bucks (mothership not included):

A bargain - as long as it includes the throw pillows.

Capable of submerging to 1500 metersWhy'd they name it the Aurora 1000 m? :D

I've been wondering about these private subs. Not withstanding that their owners tend towards being depraved psychopathic rapists murderers (http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/danish-submarine-peter-madsen-kim-wall-1.4490007), would you go down in one of these owned and maintained and operated by someone who didn't consider their operation to be a full time occupation?

From what I read, Paul, the sub can be configured to be capable of diving between 500 and 1500 metres. I presume that the one shown is configured to dive to 1000 metres.

As for whether I would go or not, it depends. It depends on the age of the sub, condition of it and its support systems, and whether the operator has posted qualifications to operate it. If newish, in good nick, and operated by a serious and qualified person, yes, in a heartbeat, despite Peter Madsen's activities.

Nailed it, Paul.
Didn't someone here advise never flying with someone who's occupation was not a pilot?
