I am getting ready to paint my hull, but before I did I was thinking about adding spray rails...after watching Lou Sauzedde (Tips from Shipwright) add them to his work skiff, they seem like a good idea.
Being that the sides are fairly vertical on a LYS, I was wondering if current owners have experienced a need with repeated face splats of salt water....I hate having to constantly rinse off my RX sunglasses!

Yes, definitely spray rails. Like you, I threw mine on at the last minute with scrap I had. They were too short, the spray comes up aft of where mine end, so make yours longer. Consider full-length. In fact, when you're really ripping through a slight chop, the spray will come up within the aft few feet of the hull, so consider that. Oh, and post 'baby' pictures when splashed!

first of all let me tell you mine aint an LYS

BUTT i think her construction features can help with this discussion

PORT ARANSAS SKIFFS are built w/ what i term as A NICE FLAIR, certainly more than the LYS has

flair aids somewhat and the vast majority of the PA skiffs also have a FULL LENGTH SPRAY RAILS which also help

and when cut/mounted at a downward angle they help even more

if you look at the bow you can see what i'm referring to

here is a blow up(poor image) of the benefit i realize w/ the full length rails
