Donald Trump says the Trump National Golf Club in Florida is worth more than $50m. Palm Beach County property tax appraiser Dorothy Jacks disagrees, saying the Jupiter course, where Trump plays when he visits nearby Mar-a-Lago, is actually worth $19m.

The presidentís lawyers are now suing Jacks, saying her estimate and the nearly $400,000 property tax bill it generates are too high, even if her appraisal is only 40% of what the president listed in his 2017 financial disclosure form.

Trumpís company, Jupiter Golf LLC, does not say in the lawsuit how much it thinks the course is currently worth, but it sent the county nearly $300,000 as a good-faith estimate of what it believes the tax bill should be. That would make the course worth $15m.

If the course were worth at least $50m, its tax bill would be $1m or more at the countyís 2% business property rate.

It's not the first time he has made this kind of claim. It seems like he can't stop himself bragging about how much he is worth, and what his various assets are worth, but when it comes to paying property tax suddenly they aren't worth very much at all

Back in 2016..

The Republican presidential frontrunner is suing the town of Ossining in Westchester County to reduce the taxes on Trump National Golf Club..
Trump’s lawsuit in county court argues that the luxurious private club, which he bought in foreclosure for about $8m in the mid-1990s before spending what he claimed at the club’s opening event was another $45m in improvements, has been unfairly assessed and is in fact worth only $1.4m.

“That is crazy low,” Fernando Gonzalez, the Ossining town assessor, said in an interview.

Trump’s new valuation, however, contrasts with the 92-page financial disclosure document that he released to the US government as he embarked on his audacious campaign for the presidency last year. Trump listed the Westchester club and its manicured links as an asset worth more than $50m within his purported $10bn fortune. The club charges would-be members an $250,000 entry fee.

It's become abundantly clear that SCROTUS is shallow, thick, and blissfully unacquainted with ethics or morals. No wonder the equally bankrupt RWWs love him.

Surely a simple matter of quoting Donald's self aggrandising statements in court would settle the matter? A query, in court of his lawyers re whether Donald is a congenital liar and is that their basis for action could be interesting.

In his defense, what The Maggot meant was that next time he declares bankruptcy and doesn't pay what he owes on the club he will have saved 50K.

So - how do the Reps spin this? Isn't it tax evasion? It's certainly sleazy, but I guess that's OK for them.

This property is a great deal it's worth 50 million but you only have to pay taxes on how ever my lawyers can get it, proud American Donald.

What am I missing?

The property is worth less, so he has to pay more taxes?

Careful... you're talking about a man who a no-insignificant number of people in this country consider a role model for their children.

You are missing the part where Donald claims it is worth one amount for his valuation (to boost his net worth), and a much lower amount when the tax appraiser values it.
